What is station officer?

A station officer is a senior officer in the fire service who is responsible for managing a fire station and its crew. They are in charge of maintaining the station, supervising and training the firefighters under their command, and ensuring that the equipment and vehicles are in good working order. Station officers may also be involved in planning and coordinating emergency operations, responding to emergencies as needed, and liaising with other emergency services and local authorities. They may also be responsible for administrative tasks such as budget management, record-keeping, and reporting. To become a station officer, extensive experience as a firefighter and additional training and qualifications are usually required.
